Corrosion Protection with Appliqués -- Comparison of Laboratory and Hawaii Exposures

Abstract Appliqués were placed on structures and on panels mounted on exposure racks at the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Kauai, Hawaii. Other panels were exposed to laboratory salt fog and automotive cyclic testing. Embedded or handheld corrosion sensors allow electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements to monitor appliqué effectiveness and compare performance with different coatings. Appliqués are highly effective in corrosion prevention both in the field and in the laboratory.
