Abstract

The Solar Isotope Spectrometer (SIS) is scheduled for launch on NASA's Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) mission. SIS has two solid-state telescopes that are designed to measure the elemental and isotopic composition of solar energetic particles and anomalous cosmic rays in the energy range from rv 10 to 100 Me V /nucleon, including elements from He to Zn (2≤Z≤30). This paper presents\na brief description of the design and operation of SIS.
