To answer the provocative question raised in the title a simulation procedure for checking the compatibility of structural mimetics is presented. The results obtained from selected β-turn mimetics (e. g. 1) underline the practicability of the procedure proposed and outline a surprisingly heterogeneous picture for the structural compatibility of the β-turn mimetics investigated.
