Backward electroproduction of<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mrow><mml:msup><mml:mi>π</mml:mi><mml:mn>0</mml:mn></mml:msup></mml:mrow></mml:math>mesons on protons in the region of nucleon resonances at four momentum transfer squared<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mrow><mml:msup><mml:mi>Q</mml:mi><mml:mn>2</mml:mn></mml:msup><mml:mo>=</mml:mo><mml:mn>1.0</mml:mn><mml:mspace width="0.3em"/><mml:msup><mml:mrow><mml:mtext>GeV</mml:mtext></mml:mrow><mml:mn>2</mml:mn></mml:msup></mml:mrow></mml:math>

Exclusive electroproduction of ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ mesons on protons in the backward hemisphere has been studied at ${Q}^{2}=1.0\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}{\text{GeV}}^{2}$ by detecting protons in the forward direction in coincidence with scattered electrons from the $4\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\text{GeV}$ electron beam in Jefferson Lab's Hall A. The data span the range of the total $(\ensuremath{\gamma}*p)$ center-of-mass energy $W$ from the pion production threshold to $W=2.0\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\text{GeV}$. The differential cross sections ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\mathrm{T}}+ϵ{\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\mathrm{L}}$, ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\text{TL}}$, and ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\text{TT}}$ were separated from the azimuthal distribution and are presented together with the MAID and SAID parametrizations.
