The ophiolite is overlain by a thick flysch sequence derived from both an active volcanic arc and the continental margin. Many lines of evidence favor genesis of the ophiolite in an immature marginal basin by back-arc spreading rather than at a mid-ocean spreading center. This content is PDF only.
