Increased Expression of Visfatin in Macrophages of Human Unstable Carotid and Coronary Atherosclerosis

Our findings suggest that visfatin should be regarded as an inflammatory mediator, localized to foam cell macrophages within unstable atherosclerotic lesions, that potentially plays a role in plaque destabilization.
