Possibility to study a two-proton halo in<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mmultiscripts><mml:mi mathvariant="normal">Ne</mml:mi><mml:mprescripts/><mml:none/><mml:mrow><mml:mn>17</mml:mn></mml:mrow></mml:mmultiscripts></mml:math>

The nuclide $^{17}\mathrm{Ne}$ is studied theoretically in a three-body $^{15}\mathrm{O}\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}+\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}p\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}+\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}p$ model. We demonstrate that the experimental condition for existence of a proton halo in $^{17}\mathrm{Ne}$ can be reasonably quantified in terms of $s/d$ configuration mixing. We discuss experimental evidence for a proton halo in $^{17}\mathrm{Ne}$ and define which kind of experimental data could elucidate this issue.
