Direct evidence for organic cargoes in the Late Bronze Age

Abstract The excavation and recovery of plant remains from the Late Bronze Age shipwreck at Ulu Burun provides direct evidence of traded organic goods in the eastern Mediterranean. Archaeobotanical studies contribute to a better understanding of economic systems by identifying seaborne cargoes that leave few traces on land but are preserved on shipwreck sites.
