Transient Osteoporosis of the Hip Associated with Pregnancy

Osteoporosis is generally defined as an age-related disorder characterized by decreased bone mass and increased bone fragility in the absence of other recognizable causes of bone loss. The following case report describes a patient referred to physical therapy with a chief complaint that was found to be unrelated to the original medical diagnosis. The purpose of this report is to describe the physical therapy differential diagnostic process that led to the patient's referral to a physician and the subsequent diagnosis of transient osteoporosis of the hip.
