Abstract

A simple chalcone based fluorescent chemosensor <bold>1</bold>, capable of detecting Fe<sup>3+</sup> in aqueous media, has been designed and synthesized by the condensation of 3-formyl-2-hydroxyquinoline and acetophenone.
