Abnormal Tissue Doppler Images are Associated With Elevated Plasma Brain Natriuretic Peptide and Increased Oxidative Stress in Acute Kawasaki Disease

Latent abnormal tissue Doppler profiles, possibly reflecting long-axis systolic and diastolic dysfunction have been noted in KD patients. Abnormal myocardial mechanics may contribute to the increased plasma BNP level and enhanced oxidative stress may contribute to cardiac dysfunction in KD.
