A Predictive Validity Study of the Metropolitan Readiness Test and Meeting Street School Screening Test Against First Grade Metropolitan Achievement Test Scores

Samples of 72 and 64 entering first-grade students were used to examine the predictive validity (one school year) of the group administered Metropolitan Readiness Test (MRT) and the individually administered Meeting Street School Screening Test (MSSST). The Metropolitan Achievement Test (MAT) was used as the criterion. Validity coefficients, all of which were statistically different from zero ranged from .73 to .84, with 84% of the possible validity coefficients for the MRT and 81% of the coefficients for the MSSST being equal to or greater than .60.
