Abstract

The previously termed "anomalous" properties of the various polytypes of ${d}^{1}$ Ta${\mathrm{S}}_{2}$, Ta${\mathrm{Se}}_{2}$, etc. are attributed to charge-density waves, their periodic structure distortions, and the superlattices they induce.
