The electrical resistance of fluidized beds of coke and graphite

Abstract The electrical resistance of beds of finely divided graphite and conducting coke have been investigated in the settled and fluidized regions. In almost all cases a maximum in the bed resistance occurs at a gas velocity slightly greater than that required for minimum fluidizing. This has been explained qualitatively by assuming current flow along a continuous network of touching particles the resistance of which is modified by the growth of gas bubbles in the bed.
