THE TREATMENT OF CUSHING'S SYNDROME BY TRANSETHMOIDAL HYPOPHYSECTOMY

Ten women aged 24 to 65 years considered to have Cushings syndrome of pituitary origin have been treated by transethmoidal hypophysectomy. Histologically, all the glands showed Crookes changes. Six glands contained an adenoma - two were basophilic and four were of mixed cell type. In two other glands there was focal hyperplasia of the basophils.
