Waking up to ourselves: The use of mindfulness meditation and emotional intelligence in the teaching of communications

Abstract Communication concepts can be viewed as internal and external influences on our behavior that typically have an unconscious impact on us. Mindfulness meditation can help us become more aware of these influences as they occur moment to moment, allowing us to observe our emotional reactions to them and enabling us to break free of habitual patterns of behavior, thus broadening our communicative options in each moment of our lives.
