A mathematical representation of the multiaxial Bauschinger effect

The above title and authorship belong to an internal Company Report that was issued
\nin 1966 [1] and is still often referred to, but it has never been published in the open
\nliterature. The report is reproduced in full below as a paper, but Materials at High
\nTemperatures has first taken the opportunity to explore the background to what is
\nregarded by many in the field as a classic work.

\nmodels of the behaviour of structural materials. Naturally these should be as accurate
\nas possible; they should, for instance, display a Bauschinger effect in timeindependent
\nplasticity.
\nExisting attempts to do this do not appear to be wholly adequate and a new material
\nbehaviour model is proposed here. On the available evidence it appears to represent
\nplasticity more accurately than previous models.
\nThe extension of the proposed behaviour model to include time dependent effects is
\ndiscussed briefly.
