Twisted accretion disks. II - Applications to X-ray binary systems

Obliquity in an X-ray binary system gives rise to forces which tend to twist the shape of a thin accretion disk in the system. We derive the form of the most important gravitational twisting forces, and calculate their effect on the shape of the disk. We show that pressure due to radiation from the center of the X-ray source has influence on the structure of such a twisted disk, and will in many cases cause important changes in it.
