In Brief PURPOSE To familiarize wound care practitioners with the 5 Million Lives Campaign's pressure ulcer prevention intervention. TARGET AUDIENCE This continuing education activity is intended for physicians and nurses with an interest in wound care. OBJECTIVES After reading this article and taking this test, the reader should be able to: List organizational and national initiatives that address pressure ulcer prevention. Identify characteristics of pressure ulcers. Identify 6 strategies that help prevent pressure ulcers. This continuing education activity examines national guidelines and recommendations to help prevent pressure ulcers, as well as successful examples of pressure ulcer prevention programs.
