Diabetes increases the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma in the United States: a population based case control study

Diabetes is associated with a 2-3-fold increase in the risk of HCC, regardless of the presence of other major HCC risk factors. Findings from this population based study suggest that diabetes is an independent risk factor for HCC.
