Gas-driven Deuterium Permeation through Al2O3 Coated Samples

In this paper, data on the performance of thin alumina layers as hydrogen barriers are presented for coatings deposited on Pd–Ag substrate at temperatures of 600, 873 and 1000 K with a filtered arc technique. The permeation reduction factor ranged from 10 to 100 depending on the structure of the deposited layer. Recombination on the alumina surface appears to play an important role in the permeation regime.
