Optimal Sculling and Coning Algorithms for Analog-Sensor Systems

An optimization approach is developed that allows the optimal algorithm coefficients to be conveniently defined as the sum of the values that exist for perfect sensors and an adjustment that accounts for the composite effect of the sensor dynamic-response characteristics and datareconstruction scheme. The optimal coefficients and the performance associated with the sculling and coning compensations for two-, three-, and four-interval algorithms are provided for nominally assumed sensor parameter valuesandwhenvariationsintheseparametersareincorporated.Pseudoscullingandpseudoconingerrorsresulting from relative phase shifts in the sensor outputs are analytically defined.
