Neutral-pion photoproduction and proton Compton scattering at large angles

The differential cross sections for $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}p$ and $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}p$ have been measured for incident photon energies in the range of 2 to 6 GeV and for $|t|$ ranging from 0.7 to 4.3 Ge${\mathrm{V}}^{2}$. This corresponds to a center-of-mass angle range of 45\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} to 128\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}. The energy dependence of the data is compared to that predicted by several parton models.
