Investigation of a 95GHz helical TWT with CST STUDIO SUITE™

For the deep investigation of electron tubes-such as traveling wave tubes-simulation software is necessary. It helps to a priori analyze the structure, improve the design and therefore speed up the development process. The software used in this paper is the CST studio suitetrade. In detail CST microwave studio <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">reg</sup> (MWS) is used for the cold test simulations. The charged particles are included via CST particle studio <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">reg</sup> , the successor of MAFIA. The software is based on the finite integration technique (FIT) and includes a sophisticated particle in cell code. The design of the helical traveling wave tube was performed by Teraphysics Corporation.
