Abstract

Theperformance ofa pre-prototype oftheSLD Warm IronCalorimeter (WIC)build withproportional tubecathodepadreadout hasbeenstudied. Thecalorimeter wasfound tohaveanaverage resolution of36.7±0.2%formuonsat2.0, 5.0and10.5GeVand81±2%/V'i- forpion showers at5.0and 10.5GeV.Themeanenergy foundforthepionshowers was consistent withalinear dependance onenergy within these standard deviations.
