Search for Diphoton Events with Large Missing Transverse Energy in p{ovr p} Collisions at {radical}(s)=1.8TeV

A search for new physics has been carried out in the channel p{ovr p}{r_arrow}{gamma}{gamma}+E/{sub T}, as expected in various supersymmetric models. We require two photons with transverse energy E{sup {gamma}}{sub T}{gt}12GeV and pseudorapidity {vert_bar}{eta}{sup {gamma}}{vert_bar}{lt}1.1. The distribution of missing transverse energy (E/{sub T}) is consistent with background and no events have E/{sub T}{gt}25GeV. We set limits on production cross sections for selectron, sneutrino, and neutralino pairs, decaying into photons, which range from about 400fb to 1pb depending on the sparticle masses. A general limit of 185fb (95{percent} C.L.) is set on {sigma}(p{ovr p}{r_arrow} {gamma}{gamma}E/{sub T}+X), where E{sup {gamma}}{sub T}{gt}12GeV, {vert_bar}{eta}{sup {gamma}}{vert_bar}{lt}1.1, and E/{sub T}{gt}25GeV. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}
