Evaluation of Cutpoints for Low Lean Mass and Slow Gait Speed in Predicting Death in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999–2004

Low lean mass defined by ALMBMI showed the strongest association with death; while slow gait speed showed significant association with death, with the strongest association being observed for the cutpoint of 0.8 m/s. Further studies validating the cutpoints are warranted before using them in clinical settings.
