The Work of the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences

In the period covered by this report, the activity of the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences has been governed by the objective of implementing the Party Program and the Directives of the 23rd Party Congress on science and education; its goal has been to carry into practice the decisions of the Party Central Committee and the Soviet government on science and the schools and on reorganizing the RSFSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences into the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences. The April and July 1968 plenums of the CPSU Central Committee centered the attention of the party and of all Soviet people on the need to strengthen ideological work in a situation of exacerbation of the struggle between capitalism and socialism. In this struggle, pedagogical science and the school play an outstanding role.
