Research on hydrodynamic characteristics of forced oscillation heave damping plates of Spar platforms

Firstly, Hydrodynamic characteristics of circular heave damping plates with different porosity are studied and simulated.Numerical results of the resistance coefficients and added-mass coefficients are given,and the influences of the porosity on the resistance and added mass coefficients are also investigated.Secondly, the hydrodynamic characteristics of heave damping plates with various numbers of the holes and various shapes are compared at the same porosity.Finally, different distances between two heave damping plates are studied.These results will give some useful instruction for the optimization design and improvement of the heave damping plates of deep sea spar platforms.1
