Thermodynamic method of rock durability

The process of a rock’s destruction has been assumed as an irreversible phase transition of defects from solid solution into gaseous phase. A formula for a rocks long-term durability has been derived on an irreversible thermodynamic basis. The practical evaluation of the durability uses a special procedure of the triaxial rock test.
