P4–253: Comparison of several human immunoglobulin products for anti–Aβ 1–42 titer

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disorder observed during the later stages of life. Several preclinical and limited clinical studies have shown that passive immunization against β–amyloid (Aβ) resulted in decreased levels of Aβ in cerebrospinal fluid, increased levels of serum Aβ and improvement in ADAS–cognitive test. This positive outcome was attributed to the presence of the anti–Aβ specificity in the polyclonal immunoglobulin preparations. Therefore, it has been postulated that passive immunization against Aβ might be effective in slowing down the progression of AD. Since not all commercial immunoglobulin products are processed and formulated the same, a study was conducted to compare the levels of anti–Aβ 1–42 titer in several commercial products. Data will be presented to show the levels of anti–Aβ 1–42 levels in various commercially available immunoglobulin products.
