Global Synchronous Manufacturing and Logistics Organization: A Success Story

In 1996, Renault decided to expand its activities in the Mercosur countries by building a production site in Curutiba, Brazil. Vallourec Composants Automobiles was chosen as the main supplier of the assembly modules that were to be synchronously delivered to the site. Vallourec faced this challenge with the assistance of Proconseil, a French firm of consultants specialised in strategy and industrial organization. The present case study relates the project that succeeded in setting up a production site and an organization that were capable of very high logistics performance.
