Understanding distributed fiber-optic sensing response for modeling of signals

Distributed fiber optic acoustic sensing is becoming widely used and modeling of the signals is an essential tool. Here we examine the response of the fiber to imposed strain to assist in calibration of models. The response is estimated numerically using both semi-analytic and numerical models and then tested in the laboratory and field.
