A Unique Collaboration: Revitalizing Existing Standards While Preparing for the Future

As integrated circuit design and manufacturing technologies advance along the curve of Moore's law, tools to enable better designs, reuse of designs, and validation of designs become increasingly mandatory. The Accellera consortium and the IEEE Design Automation Standards Committee have built an increasingly cooperative relationship enabling specifications developed by Accellera to become IEEE standards. This article highlights the areas of cooperation and the techniques that are used to be most effective.
