Element E: Equipment and Furnishings

This chapter discusses common equipment, specifically in the following categories: vehicular equipment, commercial equipment, institutional equipment, residential equipment, entertainment and recreational equipment and other equipment. It also discusses the following topics related to medical equipment: patient care rooms, examination and treatment spaces and procedural spaces. The chapter describes equipment commonly used in residences, in particular, kitchens and laundry rooms. It provides a discussion on the following types of equipment: maintenance equipment, solid waste compactors and containers, commercial food service equipment, residential equipment and athletic equipment. Service stations are typically furnished with equipment, supplies, and selected beverages. The chapter examines the following two general categories of furnishings: fixed furnishings and moveable furnishings. Sofas, love seats, lounge chairs, pull‐up chairs, tables, and consoles comprise the typical furnishings. Each component is available in a wide variety of styles, shapes, and sizes, with a multitude of material and fabric options.
