Students of representations of human sacrifice in ancient Greece are in the rather unique situation that we not only have the description of Iphigeneia’s sacrifice in Aulis by Euripides in his Iphigeneia in Aulis, but also reflections on this sacrifice by Iphigeneia herself in his Iphigeneia in Tauris (hereafter cited as IA and IT).
