The destruction caused by the COVID -19 virus to the human race is beyond the imagination. This article elucidates how COVID-19 is identified as a threat to human life. The medical advancements and the impact of insufficient medical facilities, are available even in the well-developed nations. The role of Information Technology (IT) in the development of various effective algorithms for the diagnosis and prevention of the disease is discussed.
