Dual-Sided Microstructured Semiconductor Neutron Detector (DS-MSND) Implementation into an Area Radiation Gamma and Neutron Origin Telemetry (ARGANOT) Mobile Detection System

An Area Radiation Gamma and Neutron Origin Telemetry mobile detection system has been developed implementing Dual Sided Microstructured Semiconducting Neutron Detectors and SrI <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</sub> gamma-ray detectors to aid in the alerting to and locating of special nuclear material. ARGANOT modules allow for overt or covert operation with battery life lasting greater than 10-18 hours. Operators are alerted to the presence of radiation, can view accumulated count rates, and can view the gamma-ray spectrum to aid in source identification. Future models will incorporate GADRAS, dose monitoring capabilities, more efficient DS-MSND detectors, and directional algorithms.
