Abstract

This patch adds a final fallback clause to our plugin logic to fail with a warning rather than error on Python < 3.8 when neither the importlib_metadata (preferred) or setuptools (fallback) packages are available. <em>The canonical version of these notes (with links) is on readthedocs.</em>
