La identidad fracturada. Infancia de J. M. Coetzee

If identity depends on the capacity to identify oneself with others, in Chilhood by John Maxwell Coetzee this is dealed as a problem. Each time the child identifies himself with someone else, he is being not fair, irrational or cruel. How to recognize himself, if his identification with others lacks of justification? In this article I want to try to read this novel under the perspective of this question. I will begin thinking on the theme and style of the novel, in order to deal with three scenes showing this impossibility of identification.
