WAVE FORCES ON SUBMERGED BODIES

Abstract : A series of experiments, in which the forces and moments acting on a slender, submerged body of-revolution moving under regular waves were measured, provided data to verify theoretical predictions of these forces and moments. The measured and predicted results over a range of speeds, heading angles, and wave lengths agreed. The measured and predicted roll moments, acting on the same model but with a conning tower, did not agree, however, the measured and predicted heave and side forces and the pitch and yaw moments did agree.
