Experimental Evaluation of Aerodynamic Performance and Structural Excitation Characteristics of a Supersonic Air Inlet

View Video Presentation: https://doi.org/10.2514/6.2021-2494.vid Aerodynamic performance and structural vibration characteristics of a rectangular, supersonic, mixed-compression inlet with perforated type bleed are investigated experimentally. Performance curves are obtained, and vibration characteristics are investigated for different Mach Numbers and different back pressures. Schlieren videos and accelerometer data are collected and processed. Results indicate a periodic motion of the shocks. It is shown that the frequency of this motion is closely related to the inlet acoustic resonances. Also, the effect of bleed on vibration severity is presented.
