<scp>Xaar</scp> 's Inkjet Printing Technology and Applications

Xaar's business initially focused on licensing its technology to a number of printing corporations. This chapter discusses, Xaar's printhead technologies divided into its core technology, used across Xaar's range of printheads, followed by a specific section focusing on the key benefits of Xaar's unique TF Technology. There are three possible modes of piezoelectric displacement that can be used for actuation of piezoelectric inkjet printheads: longitudinal, transverse, and shear mode. The shared wall actuator design is a technique for increasing native resolution or channel density employed in Xaar printheads. The first generation of Xaar printheads used a monolithic cantilever actuator design. Ingestion of air through the nozzles is often the cause of nozzle jetting failure for inkjet printheads and for typical non-recirculating end-shooter printheads jetting can only be restored if printing is stopped and the printhead is purged to remove the ingested air.
