Biochar as a Potential Candiate for Removal of Pollutants from Aquaculture

Developing ecologically safe and socially acceptable sustainable materials for large-scale environmental applications is now a trend in science. For the past few years, researchers have been looking into biochar as one of the key outcomes of the thermochemical process of ligno-cellulosic biomass. In this regard, a thorough evaluation of established technologies is critical to promote the commercialization of the most sustainable solutions and identify the technological gaps that still remain. For the purpose of assessing the technology’s long-term viability, this evaluation will focus on recently published reviews as well as publications with a high citation count. Existing research gaps and future study recommendations are discussed. The purpose of this review is to assess recent advances and research in engineered biochar, with a particular emphasis on water remediation, and to contribute innovative ideas for future research involving engineered biochar.
