Estimating Costs in Cost Effectiveness Analysis

Abstract This chapter examines the theory and process of identifying, estimating, and valuing the resource costs associated with the current use and future consequences of health care interventions. A primary objective of cost-effectiveness analysis is to incorporate a consideration of resource consumption into decisions about health care. An explicit examination of resources allows an assessment of costs relative to the health benefits of an intervention.
