Scorecards: A method to prevent adverse drug events?

Adverse Drug Events (ADEs) are the most common Adverse Events occurring during the care process. These ADEs result in human costs in terms of patients’ deaths or injuries and economic costs in terms of hospital prolonged stays or lawsuits. Therefore, many countries consider ADEs to be a major public health issue and currently invest a lot of resources in patient safety programs aiming at identifying, characterizing and preventing ADEs.
