Review on Current Progress of MnO2-Based Nanocomposites for Supercapacitor Application

Supercapacitors can store energy and release it with high power capability as well as high current density in a short time interval. A supercapacitor is an electrochemical device, which found to have more energy density as compared to common capacitors. The metal oxides in pristine form have not been able to achieve performance for practical application for energy storage in supercapacitors. The composites electrodes possess synergistic properties of two or more materials which are used to prepare composite and it found to perform better as compared to single material. Thus, performance of the supercapacitor material can be enhanced by formation of composite of MnO2. MnO2 nanoparticles are considered an excellent electrode material for supercapacitor application because of their advantages, such as low cost, abundance in earth, ecofriendliness, and showing a higher performance in energy capacity than other metal oxides.
