This chapter covers the main aspects of administrative law in Ukraine: historical background, the interrelationship between concepts of public administration and administrative law, the system, principles, and the general characteristics of the legal sources of administrative law. Moreover, it reveals the organization of public administration (system of bodies of executive power, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, ministries and other central bodies of executive power, bodies with special status, bodies of executive power of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, local state administration, and other public bodies, including local self-government bodies and military and military-civilian administrations) and public service and overviews the main institutes of Ukrainian administrative law: administrative activity (e.g., administrative regulations, administrative acts, administrative contracts, internal administrative acts, and plans), judicial review of the legality of administrative activity (organization of administrative courts and jurisdiction, standing, and administrative judicial proceedings), other types of control over public administration (constitutional review, parliamentary scrutiny, anti-corruption institutions, and public control), and administrative liability. The chapter also discusses the influence of European Union law on the development of Ukrainian administrative law.
