HPC Training Initiatives in the First Year of EuroCC 2 in Slovenia

High Performance Computing (HPC) has penetrated various computing environments, ranging from supercomputers and server farms equipped with multicore CPUs and GPUs, to individual PCs, laptops, and mobile devices. Today, even personal computer users rely on parallel and distributed capabilities embedded in their smartphones, tablets, and laptops, most of them without being aware of. In todays digital skillset the HPC usage has been gaining attraction, and with it the need for sufficient training. Inclusion of HPC is challenging, as the implementation is spanning multiple application fields. Various initiatives, including training, skill development, technology transfer, and collaborations with industry, aim to support and expand HPC usage in scientific, academic, and industrial settings. This paper outlines the strategy for training in HPC and reports on the outcomes of activities conducted during the first year of EuroCC 2 project in Slovenia.
