Performance Evaluation of 3D Spiral In-pipe Mesh Designs with Different Cross-Sectional Geometries

The efficiency of in-pipe filter/mesh designs is crucial in various industrial applications, including filters, catalysts, and heat exchangers. This study evaluates the optimal in-pipe design by comparing spiral triangular, square, and honeycomb pattern geometry. The performance of these designs was simulated and then evaluated based on a few key metrics: total contact surface area, flow rate, and retention time. We aim to identify the impact of geometric patterns on filtration efficiency and flow characteristics. Findings provide insights into which design offers superior performance, guiding future in-pipe filter/mesh development and implementation.
